5 DAYS GORILLA TOUR TO BWINDI AND QUEEN ELIZABETH WILDLIFE PARK
ITINERARY - 5 Days gorilla tracking and Wildlife tour - Uganda
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Bwindi
After breakfast, you will be picked from the hotel by the driver and start off the journey southwest,
to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park the home of Mountain Gorillas, a journey of 6-8 hours. It is estimated half of the world’s surviving population of mountain gorillas –300 and more live within Bwindi boundaries. Though the journey is long, but it is enjoyable, as you will be able to see different geographical features enroute, like plain fields, long horned Ankole cows, evergreen mountains and plantations. An early Lunch will be taken from Mbarara, or you can take it from Kabale if still fine. On arrival in the evening, you will settle check in at the Gorilla Forest Camp, Gorillar Resort, Kitandara Camp Buhoma Homestead or Community Bandas , which are just 100 meters from the park offices, for dinner as you prepare for the tomorrow’s event.
Day 2 Gorilla tracking adventure
Having taken breakfast, you will be escorted to the park offices to begin your adventure, after briefing. The time taken and the terrain vary according to the movement of these gentle giants. The thrill of meeting face to face takes away the pain of some times long and arduous trek. The trekking always take 3-6 hours. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Drive from Bwindi – Ishasha / Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, head for Ishasha, which is the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park where you may sight tree-climbing lions. Ishasha is dominated by acacia woodland and scrubland and features the meandering Ishasha River, banked by a riparian forest. After picnic lunch, drive all the way to the northern sector of the park and check in at Mweya Safari Lodge or Jacana Safari Lodge or Institute of Ecology (budget). The evening will be at leisure dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Game drive and launch cruise at Queen Elizabeth National Park
After an early cup of coffee, you will have game drive to see more animals that habit this park which include lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and other game animals. Over 500 bird species identified here will also spice up the tour especially for bird-watchers. They include the black bee–eater, 11
different species of kingfisher and several falcons, eagles and other raptors. After lunch, you will take a 2-hour launch cruise on the Kazinga channel. This waterway joins Lakes Edward and George and it is filled with schools of hippos, buffalos, with elephants at the banks. Retire to the lodge for dinner and over night.
Day 5: Primate walk and Depart for Kampala
After early breakfast drive to Kyambura gorge for a primate walk where your will see chimps and other primates like Columbus & velvet monkeys and baboons. After tracking begin the journey back to Kampala where you will have stop over enroute to buy African craft, Equator for photographs, and you reach Kampala in the evening. This will mark the end of the tour.
