8 Days Gorilla watching Trip in Rwanda - Volcanoes Elegant Adventure - Rwanda

This safari will take you to the most elegant tourist places in Rwanda, where you will be able to appreciate the beauty of Rwanda, see the endangered mountain gorillas, the chimpanzees and other wildlife in Rwanda.

ITINERARY - 10 Days tour in Rwanda
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali.
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be received by African Adventure safaris representative, who will drive you to your hotel. You will be briefed about your safari as you head to Kigali. A city tour will be taken, where you will visit areas like the local market, the museum, the genocide memorial cite, the African craft shops and much more. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 2: Kigali to Nyungwe Forest national park.
In the morning, you will be picked by the drive/guide and drive southwards to the Nyungwe Forest National Park, with enroute visit to the reconstructed King’s Palace at Nyanza, Butare Museum and Murambi Genocide Memorial. Lunch will be taken in Butare before proceeding to Nyungwe, where you will check in Gisakura guest house for dinner and overnight.


 Day 3: Primate tracking.
Early in the morning, you will proceed to the forest to track the chimpanzees. You will also be able to track the colobus monkeys and see many other wildlife like birds, butterflies, reptiles, that inhabit the forest. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Canopy Walk and cultural visit.
You will go for canopy walk in the park, an exciting adventure which will see you walk on the 50metre high and 90 meter long platform which is above the forest, the only in East Africa and only third in Africa after South Africa and Ghana. This will give you chance to have an eye-eye contact with the birds, as well as the primates that like inhabiting the upper scale of the forest. In the afternoon, you will go for cultural walk, where you will be entertained by the Banyarwanda. Dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Kivu
After your breakfast, you will drive to Lake Kivu in Kibuye, passing through spectacular mountains, deep valleys, which gives you areal feel of Rwanda’s topography. You will have an afternoon relaxation at Lake Kivu, and have a boat cruise. Dinner and overnight at Lake kivu Serena hotel.

Day 6: Transfer to Volcanoes national park.
In the morning, depart for Ruhengeri to track the golden monkeys and visit the Dian Fossey’s grave in Volcanoes national park. You will reach in the park early enough to track the primates, see how they play in the fruiting trees. In the afternoon, visit Dian Fossey’s  Karisoke research centre where you will learn more about her work and the history of the Gorillas, as well as her grave. Dinner and overnight at Kinigi guest house or Gorilla’s nest lodge.


Day 7: Mountain Gorilla tracking
After an early breakfast, together with the necessary trekking gear and parked lunch, you will move to the park headquarters for briefing, before proceeding with the park guides for the memorable adventure of tracking the Gorillas. Tracking will take you through steep and slippery slopes and thick forest, and may take 2-6 hours, so be ready for a rather tiresome but paying experience. A maximum of one hour will be allowed to spend with the gorillas. Any questions that arise about the flora and the fauna in the park, the guides will be well equipped to answer. Retreat to the hotel for Dinner and overnight.


 Day 8: Transfer to Kigali and Departure
In the morning, you will drive to Kigali and then transfer to the airport for your flight.
