5 Day Gorilla Trekking & wildlife Tour Rwanda

The 5 Day Rwanda tour goes to Akagera National Park for wildlife viewing and Volcanoes National Park for Mountain gorilla trekking in Rwanda.

 

Detailed Itinerary
DAY 1: Transfer from the airport.
Upon your arrival, you will be picked by our representative from the airport to Akagera national park (3hrs). You will enjoy an evening game drive around the park. Head to Akagera game lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

 

DAY 2: Game drive and Canoeing.
Take a cup of coffee and leave for a morning game drive expecting to see lions, elephants, topi and bird species like heron, shoebill, and African jacana among others. Breakfast and relax waiting for lunch. You will then enjoy a canoe ride along Lake Ihema hoping to see crocodiles, hippos and birds. Overnight stay and dinner at Akagera Game Lodge.

 

DAY 3: Transfer to Ruhengiri (4 – 5hrs).
Take breakfast and head to Ruhengeri via Kigali. You will have a beautiful scenic view of the Virunga Mountains and lunch en route. Time permitting in the evening, take a nature walk to beautiful twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. Dinner and overnight stay at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (Luxury) / Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge (Deluxe) / Muhabura Lodge (Budget).

 

DAY 4: Gorilla tracking adventure
Breakfast and head to the park headquarters with packed lunch to be briefed about the dos and don’ts while with the gorillas then proceed to track the gorillas. Sight and stay with these Gentle Giant Apes is 1 hour. After lunch, we can take an evening walk to the beautiful twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo, or visit local markets in Ruhengeri and interact with   the local community. Dinner and overnight stay at in your lodge (Day 3).

 

DAY 5: Kigali city tour, Departure.
Enjoy breakfast and depart for Kigali for a city tour, visit Gisozi genocide memorial museum, local art and craft shops, fruit markets and do last minute shopping before transferring to Kigali international airport for your departure flight back home.
