Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - Home to 360 Mountain Gorillas in Uganda
General Overview of Bwindi gorilla park
Bwindi impenetrable national park is one of the most biologically diverse forest in Africa. It is a rainforest with average annual rain of 1500mm and has an altitude range of 1160m and 2607m above see level.
Location of Bwindi Gorilla Forest
Located in South West of Uganda with the closest town being Kabale,it has a size of 331 sq km, and is located across the steep ridges of the Albertine Rift Valley, with five rivers that flows to Lake Albert from the Forest.

Bwindi impenetrable National park is best known for Gorilla tracking as it harbors half of the world’s remaining gorillas.
The park boasts of over 120 mammals, though most of them are small ones like rodents, bats, but it does include 11 types of primates like chimpanzees, olive baboons, monkeys. There are also350 bird species which is quite a big number considering that other parks include the water-related birds which is not the case with Bwindi. At least 14 species are recorded nowhere in Uganda and 23 species are endemic to the Albertine Rift.
There is also over 200 butterfly species including Albertine Rift Endemics.
