6 DAYS UGANDA WILDLIFE TOUR, QUEEN ELIZABETH AND MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK SAFARI

ITINERARY

Day 1    TRANSFER TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, you will be picked by the driver/ guide and drive southwestwards to Queen Elizabeth National park, a journey of 5-7 hours, located in the western rift valley, running from the foothills of Mountain Rwenzori to the Ishasha border post in the south. The Park  has  recorded  a  diversity of  over 600  bird  species where by some are endemic  while others are migrant Albertine species. The drive is comfortable with a stop over at the Mpambire drum makers, coffee plantation and the equator, and lunch will be taken in Mbarara. You will visit the craters lakes region  and  the unique western rift valley escarpment. A brief game drive en route will enable you see   buffaloes, kobs, elephants, bushbucks, and the rare occasional leopard. You will have an overnight and dinner at Mweya safari lodge.


DAY 2   GAME DRIVE & LAUNCH CRUISE ALONG THE KAZINGA CHANNEL
After a cup of coffee you will go for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi miles track area to look out for the early risers and predators before they return to their hide –outs.    Look out for   hippos, spotted hyenas , lions, leopards, elephants, bushbuck, water buck and   many other savannah wildlife that Queen Elizabeth harbors . In the afternoon, you will arrive at the Kazinga Channel, joining Lakes Edward and George for a launch cruise The boat ride along the Kazinga channel will give you chance to see animals  along the banks of the channel taking water . You will also see hippos, occasional Nile crocodile and amazing bird watching opportunity. Retire for dinner and over night at your lodge.


DAY 3; CHIMPANZEE TREK IN KYAMBURA GORGE & TRANSFER TO HOIMA
Take your breakfast and drive to Kyambura Gorge for a breathtaking Chimpanzee tracking. This Uganda Safari guided trek  may last 3-5  hours  as you look out for man’s closest cousin the Chimpanzee.  Along the trek, you will see colobus monkeys, baboons, red tailed and velvet monkeys and other primates. The chances of seeing chimpanzees on this trek are 60% however other primates encountered on this walk are surely a worth while. This chances of seeing them depend on how good weather is because occasional flooding can make the trails impassable. You will drive towards Fortportal, have lunch en route and proceed to Hoima for dinner and overnight stay at Hoima Kolping Hotel or African Village guest House.


DAY 4: DRIVE  TO MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, drive to Murchison Falls National Park through the Verdant country side with views of Lake Albert. Murchison falls National Park is known as the biggest protected park bisected by the world’s longest river. Wildlife populace  have increased  from the poaching of the 1980s; in the lush borassus grassland to the north of the Nile, Giraffes,  elephant, buffalo, leopards,  and a variety of antelope are frequently encountered on game drives, while lion are seen with increasing rate. Enjoy the beautiful scenery as you drive over the still waters and the tropical winds blow against your face. You will visit the top of the falls to view the site at the Murchison falls, where the water plunges  into a narrow gorge from a 47 metres wide through a 7-10 metres wide frothing 43m into a pool . Dinner and  overnight at Sambiya river lodge or Paraa safari lodge.


DAY 5 GAME DRIVE AND LAUNCH CRUISE
After breakfast, you will go to the Northern Bank of the River Nile in Murchison Falls for an early morning game drive on either  Buligi track or Albert or Queens Tracks north of the river Nile. You may also visit Nyamisika cliffs and have picnic breakfast – this is optional. Look out for the exclusive African Savannah wildlife such as the lion, antelope, giraffe, elephant, the Uganda kob among others.In the afternoon, you will indulge in  launch cruise along the Nile River to the bottom of the falls. Along the ride, you will  encounter huge  Nile  crocodiles resting along the shores with their mouths open ,  Hippopotami  will be seen yawning , birds along the river bank and if you are lucky , the legendary shoe bill stock can be seen  and many other animals taking water along the river bank while so many other birds will be resting  around  like skimmers, cormorants, herons, kingfishers, ducks, bee-eaters, fish eagle. Return to the lodge for dinner and over night.


DAY 6:  TRANSFER TO KAMPALA
After breakfast, you will begin the journey back to Kampala. There is an optional early morning chimpanzee tracking in Kaniyo Pabidi in Budongo Forest subject to availability of Chimpanzee permits – and this option must be confirmed on booking time .Prices for optional activities change so they can be provided on request .Kaniyo Pabidi is an Eco Tourism spot is found in Budongo forest the biggest Mahogany forest in East Africa where Trees grow up to 80 meters. The forest is well known for its chimpanzees which form a number of groups. 6 families of Chimpanzees have been habituated so visitors have the likelihood of seeing them at close quarters. Budongo forest is also a home to other rare species of birds that include  the Lemon Bellied Crombec and the  Chocolate-backed Kingfisher. You will also be able to view the blue mountains of Congo and the Albertine Rift. You will reach Kampala late in the afternoon, and if possible, continue to Entebbe airport and fly back home. This will mark the end of the tour.
